2.3 Publicly Available Business Information

We may collect business information from publicly available sources (such as Companies House, public websites, and business directories) to pre-populate free directory listings. This information is limited to business name, registered address, business type, and publicly listed contact details.

  • Publish and maintain your business listing on our directory
  • Structure your listing data for AI engine discovery (Schema.org, llms.txt, API)
  • Process payments and manage your subscription
  • Communicate with you about your listing, account, or our services

4. Public Nature of Listings

By submitting a listing, you understand and agree that your business information will be made publicly available. This is fundamental to how our service works — your listing is designed to be discovered and read by AI engines, search engines, and human visitors.

Public listing information includes:

  • Business name, address, and contact details
  • Business description, services, key facts, and use cases
  • Structured data (Schema.org JSON-LD) embedded in your listing page
  • Data included in our llms.txt file and JSON API

Your personal email address (as the listing owner) is not published on your listing page unless you choose to include it as a business contact method.

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

We process personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract — processing necessary to provide our listing service to you
  • Legitimate interest — processing necessary for the operation and improvement of our directory, including pre-populating listings from public data
  • Consent — where you have given explicit consent, such as for marketing communications

6. Data Sharing

We share your business listing data in the following ways:

  • Publicly on our website — your listing is visible to all visitors
  • Via our API — your listing data is available through our public JSON API
  • Via llms.txt — your listing data is included in files designed for AI engine consumption
  • Payment processors — payment data is shared with our payment provider for transaction processing
  • Hosting providers — our website is hosted on infrastructure that processes requests containing your data

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

7. Data Retention

We retain your listing data for as long as your listing is active. If you cancel your subscription, your listing will revert to a free listing. If you request full removal, we will delete your listing data within 30 days of the request.

We retain account and payment records for 7 years to comply with financial and tax regulations.

Under GDPR and UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements)
